St. James Word of Faith Church was founded on the simple yet profound conviction that God's Word never fails. What began as a small, faithful gathering has grown into a vibrant congregation committed to living out the full counsel of Scripture in every area of life.

We believe that faith is not merely intellectual agreement but a living, active force — the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen. Our church exists to declare that truth boldly, to equip believers to walk in it confidently, and to extend its hope to every person in our community and beyond.

Rooted in Hayti, Missouri, we are called to be salt and light in our city — building bridges across every background, celebrating the transforming power of the Gospel, and demonstrating the love of Jesus in practical, tangible ways.

Pastor Johnny Hood

With a heart ablaze for God's Word and a vision for building authentic community, Pastor Johnny Hood has faithfully served St. James Word of Faith since its founding. Trained in Biblical studies and ordained in ministry, Pastor Hood brings a rich depth of teaching, pastoral care, and prophetic insight to every message. Beyond the pulpit, his servant's heart is evident in every interaction — always available, always encouraging, always pointing to Jesus.

A gifted minister, intercessor, and teacher in her own right, First Lady Gladys Hood leads with grace and spiritual authority. Her ministry to women, families, and the broader congregation reflects a profound understanding of Scripture and an unwavering trust in God's faithfulness. She oversees the women's ministry, prayer ministry, and discipleship programs, and her warmth is felt by every person who walks through our doors.

Community Food Ministry

Community Food Ministry

Each week we distribute food to families facing food insecurity throughout our community. Our food pantry serves hundreds of households monthly, partnering with local organizations to maximize our reach and impact. Faithful volunteers pack and distribute boxes filled with groceries, ensuring that no family goes without. This ministry is one of the most visible expressions of God's love in action at St. James Word of Faith.
